PROPOSAL: Website redesign Prepared for Northwind Studio by Your Studio Hello Northwind Studio, Thank you for the opportunity. Here's how I'd approach Website redesign, what you'll receive, and what it costs. THE GOAL A short paragraph in the client's own words: the outcome they're buying, not the tasks. When they read this back, they should feel understood. SCOPE OF WORK • Discovery & strategy: align on audience, goals, and success metrics • Design: concepts, revisions, and a finished design system • Build & launch: development, QA, and handover • 30 days of post-launch support TIMELINE Roughly 6 weeks from kickoff, assuming timely feedback at two review points. INVESTMENT $12,000, billed 40% on signature and the balance at milestones. This proposal is valid for 30 days. NEXT STEP Reply "let's go" and I'll send a short agreement and the deposit invoice to get us started. Warmly, Your Studio

How to use the freelance proposal template
- Add the client, the project, your name and the total fee.
- Rewrite the goal in your client’s own words.
- Adjust the scope and timeline, then send it with one clear next step.
- Send it while the conversation is fresh, ideally within a couple of days of the call.
How the freelance proposal template works
The template follows the order a client reads in: the goal, the scope, the timeline, the investment and the next step. The price comes after the value, never before it.
The ordergoal → scope → timeline → investment → next step
Write the goal in your client’s words, not yours. If they told you they need more inquiries from their site, say that, rather than describing a redesign. A client who feels understood reads the rest of the proposal more generously.

Freelance proposal template FAQ
How long should a freelance proposal be?
One to three pages for most projects: long enough to show you understand the problem, short enough to read in one sitting.
Should I include the price?
Yes. A proposal without a price is a pitch. Put it after the scope, so your client sees what they’re buying first.
What’s the difference between a proposal and a contract?
The proposal describes the work and the price; the contract makes it binding. Send the freelance contract template once the proposal is accepted.
How long should a proposal stay valid?
30 days is common. It keeps your calendar and your pricing current.
Should I offer more than one option?
Two or three packages often work well: your client chooses how much to invest instead of deciding yes or no. Keep the differences clear, and put the one you recommend in the middle. If a package includes costs you pay for, the markup and margin calculator keeps your margin in it.
