Source: https://www.meadowdesk.com/tools/proposal-template

Free freelance proposal template. Fill in the client, project, your name and fee, and copy a clean proposal with goal, scope, timeline and price.

A clean proposal outline that reads like a letter and closes like a contract. Fill in four details and copy it into your own document.

## How to use it

1. Add the client, the project, your name and the total fee.
2. Rewrite the goal in your client’s own words.
3. Adjust the scope and timeline, then send it with one clear next step.
4. Send it while the conversation is fresh, ideally within a couple of days of the call.

## Freelance proposal template FAQ

**How long should a freelance proposal be?**
One to three pages for most projects: long enough to show you understand the problem, short enough to read in one sitting.

**Should I include the price?**
Yes. A proposal without a price is a pitch. Put it after the scope, so your client sees what they’re buying first.

**What’s the difference between a proposal and a contract?**
The proposal describes the work and the price; the contract makes it binding. Send the [freelance contract template](https://www.meadowdesk.com/tools/freelance-contract-template) once the proposal is accepted.

**How long should a proposal stay valid?**
30 days is common. It keeps your calendar and your pricing current.

**Should I offer more than one option?**
Two or three packages often work well: your client chooses how much to invest instead of deciding yes or no. Keep the differences clear, and put the one you recommend in the middle. If a package includes costs you pay for, the [markup and margin calculator](https://www.meadowdesk.com/tools/markup-and-margin-calculator) keeps your margin in it.
