# Client portal

Source: https://www.meadowdesk.com/features/client-portal

Give each client one calm place for projects, files, proposals, contracts, invoices and messages. Client portal software for freelancers and small studios.

Give each client one calm place to see their work. Projects, files, proposals, contracts, invoices and messages sit behind one sign-in, in your studio's colors.

## Invite a client. They sign in their way.

Add a contact to a client and send the invite by email. They choose a password, or ask for a magic link that works for 15 minutes. There's nothing to install, and they only ever see the work you share with that client.

- Invite: By email, for each client contact
- Sign-in: A password or a 15-minute magic link
- Privacy: Each client sees only their own work

## Projects, to-dos and files in one shared place

The portal opens on a home view of what's in progress and what's waiting on them. Shared projects show where things stand, and to-dos sit with the person who owns them. Files you share are there to download, and anything they upload lands with you.

- Home: What's in progress, and what's waiting
- Projects: Shared projects and to-dos
- Files: Download yours, upload theirs

## Proposals and contracts they can act on

When a proposal is ready, it's waiting in the portal. Your client picks a package, adds any extras, then accepts, declines or asks for changes. Contracts work the same way: they read it, sign it, and keep the signed PDF.

- Proposals: Pick packages and add-ons, then respond
- Contracts: Read and e-sign in the portal
- Records: The signed PDF stays with them

## Invoices they can open any time

Every invoice you send shows up in the portal too. Clients can view it and download the PDF, so nobody digs through email for last month's copy. Once you connect your Stripe account, they can pay an open invoice by card right there, and the portal shows it as paid.

- View: Every invoice sent to that client
- Download: A PDF of each one
- Pay: By card, through your Stripe account

## Messages and meetings, without the email chain

Each client gets message threads with your studio, kept next to the work they're about. When they'd rather talk it through, they can request a meeting from the same place. The whole portal wears your studio's accent colour, so it feels like yours.

- Messages: Threads between client and studio
- Meetings: Clients request a time from the portal
- Branding: Your studio's accent color

## Client portal questions

**Do my clients pay for an account?**
No. Your clients don't pay anything and don't need a Meadow Desk account of their own. You invite them by email, and they sign in to see what you've shared.

**How do clients log in?**
With the email address you invited. They can set a password, or ask for a magic link that arrives by email and works for 15 minutes. There's no app to install.

**Can clients sign contracts in the portal?**
Yes. They read the contract and e-sign it right there. Once you've added your countersignature, the signed PDF is kept in the portal for them to download.

**Can clients pay invoices in the portal?**
Yes, once you connect your own Stripe account. Every unpaid invoice in the portal gets a Pay button for the balance due, and the payment is recorded against the invoice for you, with a receipt to the client. Payments by bank transfer or cash you record yourself.

**Does each client see only their own work?**
Yes. A contact only sees the projects, files, proposals, contracts, invoices and messages for the client they belong to. Nothing from your other clients ever appears.
